The international stationery and paper products exhibition, commonly known as "ISOT," held at Tokyo Big Sight every summer, is the most popular stationery exhibition in Japan. This year, the 31st time, the event itself was threatened due to the Korona-ka, but after the postponement, it was managed to be held safely during the session from September 2nd to 4th.
However, the number of exhibiting manufacturers has decreased significantly. Furthermore, since there are no overseas booths, it is unavoidable that the event has become much more compact than usual.
Even so, it is finally a real exhibition where other exhibitions were held remotely. As the author, I have found various new products that are attracting attention with high tension, so please have a look.
1. A new note that allows you to freely bind paper
First of all, I was interested in "Slide Note" of the notebook brand "PageBase" newly launched by the printing company Kentsunesha.
This notebook, which claims to be a "ringless loose-leaf", is a slide type notebook that uses a metal clip, and the biggest point is that you can freely pinch paper without ring holes to make a notebook.
Two metal clips are released by pulling and sliding the plastic frame on the throat side (binding side) of the notebook. Now you can insert and remove the paper freely, and when you put the frame back, it will be in the bound state.
The mechanism is almost the same as the metal fitting slide clip that holds documents together, but the idea of using it to put it together as a notebook is new. (Rail files that do not use metal clips can be used in a similar way)
It is also interesting that you can freely customize the paper and ruled lines of notebook paper through the dedicated original paper ordering system "Paper & Print". You can also select grids and horizontal ruled widths, so you can configure original notes that were not available in existing products.
In addition, printed materials and memos separated from others can be bound together with the notebook, so it seems that it can be used in a wide range of operations as a notebook that also serves as a file. If you don't have enough pages, you can just put a copy paper at hand.
However, as for the feeling of touching the prototype that was exhibited at present (release is scheduled for the end of the year), at present, the clip force is insufficient when the number of bindings is small, and the slide parts are too hard to open the page a little. I felt a challenge.
If that is resolved, it may be a bit of an interesting spread as a new notebook genre. Personally, it is a product with great expectations.
2. Do you feel like an artist if you decorate your painting on the bus?
Another interesting thing about paper products was the sun-marked "Fravas," a manufacturer of paper furniture and displays in stores. Frame (forehead) + Canvas (canvas) is named Fravas.
Draw a picture on the base part and assemble it into a box shape to complete a canvas-like artboard.
For example, it is common at home to decorate a room with a picture drawn by a child on drawing paper. In such cases, it's easy to just stick the drawing paper on the wall with a thumbtack or tape, but that doesn't look very good. However, it's an exaggeration to even frame it ...
However, just by turning the drawn picture into a thick board like a canvas, mysteriously, the artistic quality is greatly improved. It also looks great. This is sure to raise the tension not only for children but also for adults.
Assembling is quite easy, just cut out from the cutting line and fix the folded part with the attached double-sided tape. No tools such as scissors, cutters or glue are required. When decorating, there is a hole for hanging on the back, so you can just hook it on a thumbtack or a wall hook, or you can stand it up and decorate it by assembling a stand. It's completely exhausted.
The paper itself is quite thick and solid, so you can use it with any painting material, whether it's a crayon or a pasted picture. However, the paper quality with a rough "eye" feels good with watercolors and colored pencil drawings. Above all, it is easier to draw than a thick canvas from the beginning because it is drawn on a flat surface and then assembled on paper in a developed view.
The mechanism is very simple, but I think it's quite an interesting painting material to feel like an artist easily.
3. A pen case that can be used as a tool stand when folded and laid down.
Takanami Create, which mainly handles OEMs such as bags, introduced the "Paccy stand pen case" as a new product of the office tool brand offista, which is on sale as its own brand.
It is a semi-hard type pen case with a square pillar reminiscent of a milk carton. Basically, you can use it as a self-standing pen stand by opening the zipper and then folding the lid to fold it directly behind.
With that alone, I get the impression that "Oh, that kind of thing is already out, right?", But what's interesting about this is that it's supposed to be used by lying down.
Then, when you lay it on its side with the opened lid side down, it quickly changes to a tool stand style with a moderate angle.
Thanks to this angle + sideways position, the visibility inside is improved, and the feeling of touching it is smoother than when the writing tools are put in and out. Small items such as the eraser, which is a difficult point of the self-supporting pen case, are designed to be stored in the mesh pocket on the back of the lid.
By the way, as a product of the same manufacturer, I personally like the "Me: kuruto" exhibited at ISOT last year. If you see it in the store, please pick it up as well.
This is a stand pen case that stands on its own when the main body is flipped down from above, but the mechanism that squeezes the mouth with a string like a drawstring bag is quite unique. It has a cute silhouette that looks like a Japanese accessory.
4. Further expansion of the series of silicon memos that can be drawn and erased
Cosmo Tech's writeable and erasable silicon memo "wemo" has already been released in various series, such as a band type that can be wrapped around the arm and a pad type that can be attached to notebook PCs, but this time it is a new development.
Introducing two new series, the "wemo Stock & Flow" series, which has pushed the direction of "let's erase less important memos quickly", and the "wemo TAG" series, which tags information (both are non-silicon). It had been.
"Wemo Stock & Flow" uses PP synthetic paper as the base ... the same polypropylene resin paper as the familiar YUPO paper, and you can erase what you wrote with a friction ball etc. by rubbing it with an eraser or wiping it with water. It has such specifications.
The reason why friction is recommended is probably the issue of paper penetration. In fact, instead of erasing with heat, the ink itself was wiped off the surface. In the end, I heard that I would like to be able to handle gel ballpoint pens in general, but ...
What was interesting about this series was the seal type. This can be attached to the back of the cover of a notebook or notebook and used as a memo space that can be erased many times. The main use is to write information that is unlikely to be reused, such as temporarily writing down the phone number or email address you heard, and delete it as soon as you no longer need it.
This sticker type itself can also be peeled off, so you can take it with you when you change notebooks.
"Wemo TAG" is a hard tag made of polycarbonate. It is a series that can be erased with an eraser when writing with an oil-based marker and reusing.
Plates that can be pasted can be pasted on a file box for sorting and organizing. Hooked tags could be used to write the name of a houseplant and hang it in a pot, or to keep a bottle with a snack.
It seems to be ideal for posting a little information, and it seems to have a wide range of uses.
