The degree of perfection of a car audio system also depends on the quality of the installation work. In this series, I try to highlight the fun of car audio while explaining the points one by one. Currently, I am explaining the matters related to the installation of speakers.
By the way, from the last time, I have started to explain the precautions and tips when doing "deadening" by myself. So, I explained that it is necessary to first remove the door lining panel and then remove the vinyl sheet to protect from the rain. He added that this task was quite cumbersome.
The reason it is troublesome is that "it is difficult to remove the" butyl rubber "that adheres the sheet." Since the quality of butyl rubber used differs depending on the car body manufacturer, there are some differences in the degree of difficulty, but there are almost no cases where it can be easily removed. And in some cases it can be very difficult. This is because stubborn butyl rubber is sometimes used.
However, even if it is a type that is difficult to remove, it is not allowed to cut corners. This is because the final "deadening" is less complete. If the iron plate is not kept clean, the damping material for suppressing the resonance of the iron plate will easily come off later. There is no point in doing "deadening" if it comes off easily. Rather, it only harms you.
So, there is a trick to cleanly remove butyl rubber. The first tip to mention is ... It's "perseverance". It's not easy to remove, so it's important to work persistently.
The second tip is "use the drug last", which is also important. If you use a solvent such as a brake cleaner, you can finish it beautifully, but it is NG to use it a lot from the beginning. If a solvent is used when a large amount of butyl rubber still remains, it may spread and the work may become more difficult. So first, let's take the butyl rubber directly using a spatula or the like. And the use of solvent is easy to work well if you use it while trying it at the end.
The third tip is "use gum tape", remember this too. If you can remove it with a spatula to some extent, then the gum tape will be useful unexpectedly. Let's remove it using the adhesive strength of the gum tape.
After removing a certain amount in this way, use a solvent to "defatt" the entire iron plate. The more beautiful the finish, the higher the degree of fixation of the damping material, and the higher the damping effect. Let's do our best steadily.
Don't forget to be careful not to hurt your hands on the edges of the iron plate. Let's proceed with the work by taking measures such as putting on work gloves.
That's all for this time. Next time, I will introduce the precautions when pasting the damping material. looking forward to.
